- USE: Indication: Diagnosing or monitoring germ cell tumours eg. non seminomatous germ cell tumour, testicular or placental choriocarcinomas, hydatidiform moles, seminomas (combination tumours) and gestational trophoblastic disease.
Comments: A glycoprotein hormone produced during pregnancy by the developing embryo and by the placenta. Some cancers produce this hormone: therefore elevated levels measured when the patient is not pregnant requires further investigations to exclude a cancer diagnosis. - TaT*: 1
